And one with Luke, too

Emmett playing piano

Here's a test post with a video from the new camera. Did it work?

Two teeth

Not that unexpected, but the second bottom tooth is in. Luke first bottom tooth was large and almost all the way in before his second tooth came in. Emmett followed a pattern like Henry's.

Just mobile enough

Henry can scoot a little, so I never know just where I'll find him when he's playing on the floor (but always in a 7 foot radius or so). Today while he was playing, I went to the bathroom and then got Luke a snack. I the other room Henry had started fussing a little, so I was talking to him from the kitchen and hurrying. When I went to him in the front room, he had gotten himself under the leather chair from the waist up and couldn't figure out how to get out. No wonder he was fussing!

Bite me.

Today I saw a small scratch / cut / injury on Henry's thumb. I think it's most likely that he bit himself with his brand new (tiny, sharp!) baby tooth. This kid is well on his way to learning to crawl, by the way. Over longish periods of time (10 minutes or so) he moves several feet, regularly leaving the blanket that I put him on to play. Sometimes he does it by rolling, sometimes he just spins and somehow slides (this happens when I'm listening to him, not while I'm watching).

What???

Henry was chewing on my finger, and I felt a tooth! The right lower incisor has broken through. He's 4 1/2 months old! I should also mention that he's very comfortable on his belly these days. He rotates easily and can manipulate things with his hands. He reaches out and pulls toys in to play with (and chew on). Occasionally, he moves a few feet by rolling over. I'm not sure if he's doing that intentionally or not, though.

Luke and water

We've been going in the spa after dinner occasionally, and Luke has bravely started blowing bubbles while we're in there. He's never liked water on his face, so it's quite a step for him. So far he doesn't put his face in far enough to get water on his eyes, though, so we've got some work to do if we're going to have successful swimming lessons next summer!

Spinning like a top

Henry spins around. On the wood floor, he spins around very easily. And oh boy, does he want to crawl! (slow down, baby!)

Four month stats

Henry had his four month checkup a few days ago, and here are the stats: Weight: 16 pounds 2 ounces Height: 26.5 inches Head circumference: 17.25 inches I haven't looked up the percentiles (and the doc doesn't write them down), but I think he said these are mostly around the 80th percentile for boys. His head is a little bigger than Emmett's was at this point (by around 1/4 inch), but he's actually fallen behind on weight! Surprisingly, Emmett gained 4 pounds between 2 and 4 months old, while Henry gained only two. So while Henry was heavier by about a pound at two months, now he's a pound lighter than Emmett was at this age. Their lengths are about the same.

La la la!

Henry's babbling has started taking on a little more shape - he's started saying "la la la" sometimes.

Mother's little helper

At his first (group) piano lesson, Emmett's teacher asked each kid to tell her something they like to do. Emmett said, "Well, I'm usually getting something for mom, but in my spare time I like to go downstairs."
