Seriously?

Today I actually had to say, "Luke, don't jump on the bed while you're holding the scissors!" He protested that he knew that - he was bringing them to me, so he wasn't "jumping on the bed" with the scissors, he was jumping across the bed, to bring them to me.

Chatting with George

If Henry is having trouble falling asleep, I'll snuggle with him for a bit. I try not to talk, so he ends up talking to Curious George (his stuffed version). He holds George up in the air about an inch from his face and talks to him. "Now George, what was your favorite thing to do at Chuck-E-Cheese?" or "George, first I was punching the ducks (an arcade game) and then I rode the car and then there were those guys on the stage singing songs." He always starts by saying George's name, and talks to him just like he talks to the rest of us.

Unclear on the concept

Henry has a 3 year old friend next door. When one or both of them is switching houses, we make sure that an older kid is taking them (or a mom is watching). This afternoon they both wanted to go to her house, so I said, "ok" and went out front to watch them go inside. The little girl turned to me and said, "If he wants to come home, I'll walk him home." For full effect, you have to imagine that being said in the tiniest, cutest little voice ever.

Make believe

Henry has entered the world of make-believe. On Friday when we went to pick Emmett up from Spanish at Maria's house, he insisted on getting out of the car to help retrieve Emmett. He brought along Curious George, and as we left, he waved George's arm at Maria and yelled, "Adios!" Today after music class, Henry and I had tea with the little tea set in the shop outside of class. He poured tea for us, we drank it, and then he refilled the cups. I know there are more examples but I can't think of them right now...
