Milestone Minutiae

I found these on Facebook - usually I try to post the best stuff here not there, but I missed these ones. They're always looking for a way to delay bedtime. Tonight, Emmett was explaining some statistics to Luke by flipping multiple coins. I didn't have the heart to break it up - well played, Emmett, well played. Henry's been wearing a digital watch all morning. After a few time-telling lessons, he's now telling me the time every minute or two. "Mom! Mom! Mooooom!" "Yes, Henry?" "It's one forty nine!" Every. minute.

Somehow, Henry has picked up the phrase, "Oh for Pete's sake!"  I can't figure out who around here says it and he thinks he made it up.  He uses it pretty much correctly, too. David bought a USB connected microscope that puts the image on the computer.  It's been fun looking at stuff.   Henry grabbed it, put it on his hair, and started moving it around.  "Look," I said, pointing at the screen, "It's your hair!"  Henry replied, "I knew it looked familiar!"

I was talking with the kids about getting a new pair of greyhounds, and asking them if they had any name suggestions.  Emmett asked if greyhounds came in all colors, to which I replied, "Yes."  Henry jumped in excitedly, "Then I want a green one!"  He was so excited it was hard to tell him that greyhounds come in all of the dog colors, but not green.  I made him feel a little better by promising to get a green collar.
