Growth spurt?

We've been really busy packing today. In all the hustle and bustle, Emmett had a late nap. When he woke up, he asked for something to eat. I gave him some grapes while we waited for David to return with dinner. He ate quite a few grapes, and then he had a pretty large dinner. After dinner, he was asking for jelly beans, cookies, and other junk food. He got a few jelly beans out of us, and I gave him some milk.

He went to bed on the later side, and since we were still working, it took him a long time to fall asleep. Occasionally, he'd call one of us into the room for hugs and kisses and goodnights. But when he called David in, he said "You could get me a sandwich." David asked if he meant right now, and Emmett said "Right now." When David said he didn't need a sandwich right now, he said "Mom could get me a sandwich." Still hungry? I wonder what he'll want for breakfast tomorrow...

At the first week of their ski lessons, David dropped Emmett and Luke off at their classes.  Yesterday David was starting his class, though, so I took them to their classes.  There are a lot of classes that meet outside, so there are signs up for each class - the big kids meet by letters and the little kids meet by numbers.  Emmett is in class "I" and Luke is in class 11.  The alphabet signs were clearly visible as we approached, but the numbers were behind some trees so I turned to ask Luke which way we should go around them.  Emmett helpfully called out, "See those signs?  My class meets by the one with a single line on it!"  Um, thanks for describing the letter "I" in a way I can understand, Emmett!

A Short Eclipse Video

Our eclipse trip was ... stressful!!! We were in the Texas hill country, and all those cloud predictions, and the clouds we were experiencing the day before, had us on edge. Through the entire partial phase, the sun was behind the clouds, peeking through now and then. We didn't have a chance to play with eclipse shadows at all! Then during totality, the clouds were thin enough that we got to see it, for almost the entire duration of totality. We lost 20-30 seconds max. So much relief and joy! During the last few moments of totality the clouds rolled back in - I think it extended our experience of the Bailey's beads, because the clouds gave us extra protection as the sun returned (and then they swallowed the sun again).  Anyway, this short video (around a minute) captures our trip into totality, starting with cloud cover but a few seconds later the sun breaking through the clouds. ❤ Eclipse audio really is the best way to "understand" the difference between a partial e
