Minor things

Now that Luke is rolling well both back to front and front to back, he's much happier to play on the floor with toys. He gets around a bit by rolling too - I've seen him go as far as around 5 feet. I guess I should start paying attention to baby-proofing again. It's nice to see him play with Emmett on the floor, and it's nice to have a new place to keep him happy some of the time when I'm not holding him.

In other news, Luke isn't too fond of eating. After several weeks of offering food at dinner time, he's never eaten more than about an ounce. For the past week has been mostly refusing to let any solids pass his lips. Today at lunch, I convinced him to eat some banana, first off my finger and then off of a spoon. I guess I'll just keep trying with the things he's liked before. Peas and now the banana seem to go pretty well. Sweet potatoes and applesauce seemed ok for a bit, but he's refused both of them this past week.

At the first week of their ski lessons, David dropped Emmett and Luke off at their classes.  Yesterday David was starting his class, though, so I took them to their classes.  There are a lot of classes that meet outside, so there are signs up for each class - the big kids meet by letters and the little kids meet by numbers.  Emmett is in class "I" and Luke is in class 11.  The alphabet signs were clearly visible as we approached, but the numbers were behind some trees so I turned to ask Luke which way we should go around them.  Emmett helpfully called out, "See those signs?  My class meets by the one with a single line on it!"  Um, thanks for describing the letter "I" in a way I can understand, Emmett!

A Short Eclipse Video

Our eclipse trip was ... stressful!!! We were in the Texas hill country, and all those cloud predictions, and the clouds we were experiencing the day before, had us on edge. Through the entire partial phase, the sun was behind the clouds, peeking through now and then. We didn't have a chance to play with eclipse shadows at all! Then during totality, the clouds were thin enough that we got to see it, for almost the entire duration of totality. We lost 20-30 seconds max. So much relief and joy! During the last few moments of totality the clouds rolled back in - I think it extended our experience of the Bailey's beads, because the clouds gave us extra protection as the sun returned (and then they swallowed the sun again).  Anyway, this short video (around a minute) captures our trip into totality, starting with cloud cover but a few seconds later the sun breaking through the clouds. ❤ Eclipse audio really is the best way to "understand" the difference between a partial e
