Emmett reads

I've noticed Emmett reading on his own much more lately. He seemed to have the "easy reader level 2" books mastered (a sentence or two on each page), so at the library we picked up level threes. He quickly read straight through a level three book on his own ( they are maybe a step easier than Frog and Toad - quite similar but a bit less text).

A few days ago, I picked up some of the easiest "chapter" books I could find. It's a series called "Junie B. Jones" about a girl in kindergarten. The chapters are short - 7 pages plus or minus, with large type, short paragraphs, etc. He really enjoyed the first book, and read at least one or two chapters on his own.

Frog and Toad are the gold standard for young readers. Let Grandpa know which, if any, of the series are not on hand-- Christmas is coming soon enough.
