Grabby baby

Henry has completely mastered the art of grabbing things. When you dangle a toy in front of him, first he looks at it very seriously. Next, he opens his hands and starts to bring them forward. When one makes contact with the toy, he'll close it to grab on and bring in the other hand. Then he takes his prize and drags it in to his mouth for chewing.

He's still playing with his toes of course, even chewing on those once in a while.

Today I brought out the saucer, thinking that he may like to play with the toys on that now. When Luke first started in the saucer, his feet didn't reach the bottom, but Henry can already bounce around in there! He likes to grab at the toys, or just watch while Luke plays with them. It's great to have another place to stash the baby.

At the first week of their ski lessons, David dropped Emmett and Luke off at their classes.  Yesterday David was starting his class, though, so I took them to their classes.  There are a lot of classes that meet outside, so there are signs up for each class - the big kids meet by letters and the little kids meet by numbers.  Emmett is in class "I" and Luke is in class 11.  The alphabet signs were clearly visible as we approached, but the numbers were behind some trees so I turned to ask Luke which way we should go around them.  Emmett helpfully called out, "See those signs?  My class meets by the one with a single line on it!"  Um, thanks for describing the letter "I" in a way I can understand, Emmett!

A Short Eclipse Video

Our eclipse trip was ... stressful!!! We were in the Texas hill country, and all those cloud predictions, and the clouds we were experiencing the day before, had us on edge. Through the entire partial phase, the sun was behind the clouds, peeking through now and then. We didn't have a chance to play with eclipse shadows at all! Then during totality, the clouds were thin enough that we got to see it, for almost the entire duration of totality. We lost 20-30 seconds max. So much relief and joy! During the last few moments of totality the clouds rolled back in - I think it extended our experience of the Bailey's beads, because the clouds gave us extra protection as the sun returned (and then they swallowed the sun again).  Anyway, this short video (around a minute) captures our trip into totality, starting with cloud cover but a few seconds later the sun breaking through the clouds. ❤ Eclipse audio really is the best way to "understand" the difference between a partial e
